Jody M. Bartz, Ph.D.

Founder & Executive Director

Board President

I grew up in Southern California and moved to Southern Arizona in 2003. I received my Ph.D. with a major in Special Education and a minor in Family Studies and Human Development from the University of Arizona in 2012. As the aunt of two nephews with autism (who both ride), I am a passionate advocate for individuals with disabilities to be as active as possible. I have nearly 25 years' experience in the classroom, at the university level, and individually with children, youth, and their families

I most certainly identify as a competent outdoorswoman with over a decade of experience as a competitive endurance athlete. My background  includes running, triathlon, strength training, MTB, and gravel racing. My expertise lies in supporting women and youth athletes and accommodating for those who may need additional support

I carry passion, energy, and focus into my role at Sonoran STOKE/GRO girl GRO. I SO enjoy sharing what I've learned through a myriad of cycling and outdoor experiences. At GRO girl GRO, we aim to increase the number of girls in Tucson and surrounding areas who are view themselves as STRONG and CAPABLE, COMPETENT outdoor athletes (athletes* = anyone who moves their body with. purpose).

I'd say a strength of mine is my ability to energetically communicate with riders and families–with the ultimate goal of fostering the LOVE of cycling and the outdoors. As a certified MTB Instructor and Coach, I love to teach, lead clinics and rides, and coach riders to be prepared for a variety of events. I hold BICP L1, USAC L3, and NASM-CPT Certifications

Anna Noble

Board Chair and Secretary

I’m Anna Noble, the Sonoran STOKE/GRO girl GRO Board Chair and Secretary. I am very passionate about empowering young girls through outdoor activities, especially mountain biking. Since moving to Vail in 2019 with my husband Brady and our son Alec, currently a student at Arizona State University, I’ve immersed myself in this wonderful community.

I work as an ERISA consultant for financial services company, bringing a wealth of knowledge and expertise to our organization. I love being outdoors, hiking, camping, biking and traveling. I started mountain biking in 2021, and it quickly became more than just a hobby for me.

Through local social groups, I’ve met many amazing people, particularly fellow women riders. I’ve also dipped my toes into racing, participating in events around the state. In 2023, I met Jody, our incredible director, through the mountain biking community. Her passion for empowering young girls inspired me to volunteer with her, and I’ve been dedicated to helping grow this amazing organization ever since. In addition to my leadership skills and mountain biking experience, I hold BICP Ride Leader, First Aid and CPR certifications to ensure the safety and well-being of all our participants.

At GRO Girl GRO, I am committed to inspiring and empowering young girls through the joy and adventure of outdoor activities. I’m excited to be part of a mission that encourages girls to embrace their potential, have fun, make friends and build confidence through mountain biking.

Megan Hottman

Board Member at Large

Megan Hottman earned her B.A. in Corporate Communications, magna cum laude, and her Juris Doctorate, both from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska.

At the age of 29, she did what people told her was not possible - she hung her own shingle and formed Hottman Law Office (HLO), focusing exclusively on cycling injury cases and cycling advocacy. This practice, she would often say, "is the perfect combination of passion and profession - love of cycling and legal education culminated in this practice; I'm doing what I was meant to do."
For the next year, Hottman ran her practice while simultaneously racing professionally on the road and track -competing in World Cups and racing in 2011 for a new women's pro team, "Primal-MapMyRide."  In 2012, she turned her attention to building up her practice, focusing exclusively on cycling law.

A competitive cyclist and cycling enthusiast to "the n-th degree," Hottman places great value and emphasis on leading by example in the cycling community, whether mentoring newbie cyclists, or sponsoring cycling teams and events.  Her mantra is "improving lives and communities one cyclist at a time" and it is her own personal mission to get more people riding bikes, especially women.

Hottman has been racing her bike for 20+ years now. A unique fact among racers, Megan has raced all 4 disciplines: road, track, mountain biking and cyclocross (and has competed in 3 of their national championships), plus gravel worlds and fat bike worlds. These days, she tackles gravel events, mountain bike races, bike packing events, group rides, and commuting in all aspects of her life.
